Children's Book for Make Art that Sells

Hello friends! In my class Make Art that Sells with Lilla Rogers last week, I created a Children's book cover based on the Russian Folktale, "The Language of the Birds." I really enjoyed this challenge and I was happy with my hummingbird and my lettering. I wanted to create a Russian feel with my elements. The rug is based on a pretty motif I found with my own twist. I tried for this challenge to create a piece that intertwined digital and traditional art. My hummingbird (and hand-lettering) is watercolored and pen and inked while the rug, birdcage, and floral arrangements are hand-drawn and then placed in illustrator. birds3 Here is the final piece. kathryn_cole_languageofthebirds_2A_week3

Here's a close-up of my lettering. I think I want to focus more on lettering as I really enjoy it!bird41 bird42

I feel like I am learning so much in this course and am excited about future projects!

What do you think? I would love to hear some feedback on this project or my other pieces!!!

Stop by next week for this weeks challenge. We are looking at Wall Art this week and I'm really excited about it!

Have a Beautiful day!
